I have signed up to join your 2 hour workshop. I recently lost my camera so am in the process of researching what camera to buy. I love a compact camera to keep in my purse (or diaper bag), however love to take pics, especially of my 2 little children and am not sure if I should upgrade to a SLR. Do you have any recommendations?

    Hi Natalie,

Here’s the thing…. if you upgrade to a DSLR and keep it on auto mode, you might as well just save you the money and the space in your purse by getting a point-and-shoot camera.

People don’t realize that you can make amazing photos and nice big prints with a point and shoot camera. My point and shoot is actually a cheapo $159 Canon Digital Elph SD1200. I bought it as a temporary solution when I lost my $500 Powershot G11. But then realized that I can take just as good photos with it.

That sparked the entire SNAPshops movement!

So if you are just taking lots of pics of the kiddos, I think I can teach you how to make the most of your point and shoot. Then someday later you can upgrade to the ranks of DSLR.

    Just my two cents!

    Looking forward to meeting you!
